Join your friends and neighbors at Nicasa’s Annual 5K Run/Walk this November!  Individuals, families, running clubs, co-workers, and community and school groups are welcome.


Shelter C at Old School Forest Preserve - 28201 N. Saint Mary’s Road, Libertyville, IL 60048


Advance registration is $30 for individuals 13 and older.  Children 12 and under are free.  Registration will be accepted online through November 18, 2014.


All proceeds benefit vulnerable and at-risk children, adults, and families.  Nicasa Behavioral Health Services promote healthy lifestyles to prevent and treat substance abuse, addiction, and other risky behaviors.

Other Info

Medals will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in each age group.  Overall male and female finishers will receive turkeys!

Packet Pickup

Early packet pickup will be held on Saturday, November 22 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Golden Legs Running  – 508 N. Seymour Ave. Mundelein, IL 60060.  You may also pick up your packet the day of the event.

Sponsorships & Donations

Sponsors are sought to underwrite the event and cover the registration fees for those who can’t afford them.   Sponsorships range from $2,500+ to $30.  View our Sponsor Package.  Donations such as breakfast items (fruit, coffee, pastries, juice), bottled water, t-shirts, DJ, and photography also help make this event possible.  Please contact us if you are able to help.

The Cold Turkey Trot is organized by the Friends of Nicasa volunteer group.  Additional volunteers are needed on the day of the event to help with registration, breakfast, water stations, and course directions.  If you would like to join the Friends of Nicasa or help out with the event, please contact Christel Tatro at or 847-201-7072.

25th Annual Golf Outing

Nicasa’s 25th Annual Golf Outing took place on Monday, June 16, 2014 at White Deer Run in Vernon Hills, IL. The day included breakfast, a round of golf with lunch, and an afternoon reception including silent auction, awards, and raffle drawings.  View more photos on Facebook.

Lake County Opioid Initiative Forum

The Lake County Opioid Initiative will host a County-wide forum on heroin and other opioid drugs on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:00pm at the College of Lake County.  Join Nicasa and other community stakeholders in a discussion and informational session including how to identify opiate use/abuse in youth and adults, how to respond if a loved one is using heroin or other opiates, and what Lake County is doing to respond to this rising epidemic.
