Join your friends and neighbors at Nicasa’s Annual 5K Run/Walk this November! Individuals, families, running clubs, co-workers, and community and school groups are welcome.

Advance registration is $30 for individuals 13 and older. Children 12 and under are free. Registration will be accepted online through November 18, 2014.
All proceeds benefit vulnerable and at-risk children, adults, and families. Nicasa Behavioral Health Services promote healthy lifestyles to prevent and treat substance abuse, addiction, and other risky behaviors.
Prizes will be awarded for the top three male and female finishers in each age group as well as the fastest overall male and female finishers.
Sponsorships & Donations
Sponsors are sought to underwrite the event and cover the registration fees for those who can’t afford them. Sponsorships range from $2,500+ to $30. View our Sponsor Package. Donations such as breakfast items (fruit, coffee, pastries, juice), bottled water, t-shirts, DJ, and photography also help make this event possible. Please contact us if you are able to help.

The Cold Turkey Trot is organized by the Friends of Nicasa volunteer group. Additional volunteers are needed on the day of the event to help with registration, breakfast, water stations, and course directions. Nicasa’s 25th Annual Golf Outing took place on Monday, June 16, 2014 at White Deer Run in Vernon Hills, IL. The day included breakfast, a round of golf with lunch, and an afternoon reception including silent auction, awards, and raffle drawings. View more photos on Facebook.

The Lake County Opioid Initiative will host a County-wide forum on heroin and other opioid drugs on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:00pm at the College of Lake County. Join Nicasa and other community stakeholders in a discussion and informational session including how to identify opiate use/abuse in youth and adults, how to respond if a loved one is using heroin or other opiates, and what Lake County is doing to respond to this rising epidemic.
Nicasa, has part-time positions available for Night Attendants for the Waukegan Bridge House facility. Overnight hours and weekends. Must be 21 years old, have a high school diploma. Familiar with substance abuse issues a plus.
• Ability to appropriately respond to any crisis, emergency or trauma which occurs
• Routine inspections of Bridge House for purposes of fire and safety code compliance and other safety violations.
• Responsibility for answering the phones while on duty.
• Maintain a log of all incidents and pertinent activities.
• Regulate curfew hours and conduct bed checks.
• Dispense medication in accordance with Nicasa’s policies.
• Supervise clients during extracurricular activities.
• Attend all staff meetings.
